2022 Jan 19 Women’s Health Q&A

2022 Jan 19 Women’s Health Q&A

Summary:

In this session, we addressed the following questions and topics:

  • Supporting women going through breast cancer treatment
  • Why women might find they can’t manage alcohol as well as they (think they) did before peri menopause
  • Sometimes sthambhana is (poorly) translated as, “astringent therapy” and it is most famous for addressing pitta disorders of excess flow. In Women’s Health and Hormones Part II, we talk about how sthambhana therapy can pacify the mobile quality of vāta. If the guṇas of the sthambhana treatment category include astringent and cooling, in what situations might we use it to pacify vāta?
  • We explore at least a root cause that may be common to important social inequities and issues of the world, like racism, colonialism, #metoo movement, climate change as well as women’s health disorders. Dr. Welch refers to this video that features the voice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reading Letter From Birmingham Jail.

These calls were recorded live with Dr. Claudia Welch exclusively for alumni of our Women’s Health & Hormones Part I and Part II online courses.

We intend to offer these Women’s Health Q&A sessions for alumni a couple times yearly, and post those sessions here. Once you are a registered student of one of these courses, you will receive emails letting you know when live calls are scheduled, how to join them, and be invited to submit questions on course content. We hope you find these sessions useful or interesting. Or both. Thank you for being here.
