Join Dr. Welch and Menopause Chronicles participants as we welcome our guest instructor Mirabai Bush on August 5, 2026 for a heartfelt conversation on womanhood, service, and the later stages of life.
One of the few women who traveled to India with Ram Dass and met Maharaj Neem Karoli Baba ji in the early 1970s, Mirabai’s journey has spanned from NASA to ashrams, from founding the Seva Foundation to co-creating mindfulness programs for Google. Now in her 80s, living in Massachusetts, she brings a rare blend of lived spiritual experience, contemplative insight, and feminine wisdom—offering reflections on a life of seva, the gifts of aging, and what it means to enter the saṃnyāsa (fourth stage of life) stage with grace.
Mirabai Bush is the founder of the Center for Contemplative Mind in Society. Under her direction, The Center introduced mindfulness and other contemplative practices into social work, higher education, law, business, environmental leadership, the military, and social justice activism. She developed the Search Inside Yourself program for Google and led the Seva Foundation Guatemala Project for 10 years.
She is co-author with Ram Dass of Walking Each Other Home and Compassion in Action; editor of Contemplation Nation; and co-author of Contemplative Practices in Higher Education. Her recent memoir is Almost Home: Dharma, Social Change, and the Power of Love. Mirabai currently serves as chairperson of the Love Serve Remember Foundation.
